WHAT HEALTH EXPERTS RECOMMEND AS A GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO CORIANDER?

Expert opinion from Michael Colangelo

The coriander plant is most commonly used for its leaves and seeds in culinary applications. They are also referred to as cilantro leaves or cilantro seeds. For individuals who don’t like the flavor of coriander leaves, Italian parsley is a good substitute. Parsley and coriander leaves are both health-promoting green leafy herbs that come from the same botanical family. Coriander seeds, whether ground or whole, can be substituted with caraway seeds or ground cumin. These substitutions impart different flavor profiles but offer similar pungency that can make a dish unique. Another alternative is to simply leave the coriander out of a recipe that calls for it.

Caraway. Like coriander, caraway comes in both whole seeds and a ground powder. It tastes so similar to coriander that it is almost impossible to tell the difference.
