I can't imagine autumn without the scent of cinnamon wafting through the house. So, it won't surprise anyone that my favorite recipe during this time is for cinnamon rolls. However, sometimes I don't have time to make the dough from scratch, but no worries! That's when I turn to puff pastry - quick and easy.
Cinnamon rolls originated in Sweden, where they are one of the most popular treats, typically served with coffee during "fika" a break from work or other activities. Traditionally, they’re made with yeast, which isn't for everyone and is also quite time-consuming. Luckily, there’s a solution. Puff pastry is just as delicious and much less work. Don’t believe me? See for yourself.

Puff pastry cinnamon rolls are a fantastic option for cinnamon lovers and fans of crispy sweets, as well as for anyone short on time. They’re my go-to when unexpected guests arrive. What should be on your shopping list?
Ingredients for puff pastry cinnamon rolls:
It’s really simple! Before you start, take the puff pastry out of the fridge and leave it for about 10-15 minutes to warm up, which helps it rise better. Meanwhile, melt the butter over low heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning. Then, set it aside to cool slightly. Next, roll out the puff pastry and gently flatten it with a rolling pin. Brush the pastry with the melted butter. Now, mix the sugar with the cinnamon and sprinkle it over the buttered pastry. Once done, roll the pastry into a log and cut it into fairly thick slices (around 3-4 cm each).
Line a baking tray with parchment paper and arrange the cinnamon rolls on it. If you still have some butter left, you can brush the rolls with it. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15-30 minutes, depending on your oven. Once baked, let the rolls cool and prepare the icing. Heat the water (or lemon/orange juice) and gradually add the powdered sugar, stirring continuously. When it’s ready, drizzle the icing over the cinnamon rolls. Enjoy!
